Hey brother,
This couple of weeks I've been putting my critical digital literacy skills to use by searching for information about an internet safety issue, so this week is about AI in digital content, which basically is how AI has been used in generated online content these days.
What is AI, and how it’s can answer our questions or generate content?
AI - Artificial Intelligence, the tool that simulates human intelligence and problem solving using machines, computers. By using the information sources they have collected, AI can synthesize and generate the answer suitable with the question that users type in.
With the rapid developing of technology or the Artificial Intelligent aspect, there are more and more content generated by this technology, for example text, image, or even video. Even though it sounds convenience and modern, this phenomenon has sparked many problems. To be more precise, those content might cause misunderstood or misinformation among audiences, besides, bias, discrimination, or data leaking are all because of AI generator and further effect will caused by this tool in the future. Furthermore, if human beings are too rely on this technology, we will gradually lose the ability to think creatively.
Who is effected?
Almost all age groups are effected by this technology, especially the group that started using the Internet intensively every day. Conversely, the older groups seem to be more suffer due to the lacking of AI-generated recognizing skills, which leads to being scammed and so on.
How does it happen
Taking deepfake as an example, the AI technology that learning human faces or voices and manipulate or fabricate someone’s biometric data to another one in some other videos, for example pornographic. This approach has cause many consequences, including tarnishing of some people's reputations or blackmail, which in turn causes psychological pressure and further harmful effects.
Why this tool is created if there are so many impacts?
This tool was initially created to aid people or creators with saving time and brainstorming unique ideas, however, since the contents are hardly distinct if being generated by machine or not, many people exploit this loophole to cause those harm for their own benefit.
By reading through this article: https://blog.coupler.io/artificial-intelligence-issues/#AI_will_control_our_behavior , which is about some issues related to AI in 2023 that we should concern, and the CRAAP method. I choose this method because it covers most of the essential perspective that needs to be considered when reading and applying an article into a research paper, and CRAAP stands for:
Detailed version of this method applied on above article to evaluate can be found in this video, leave a comment of any of your opinion and question 😉:
After evaluating the article, as the video said, I will use this article for my assessment 3, however, this one just suitable to begin with, which it has a bunch of ideas to start brainstorming with, however, because there is no peer review or academic evidence provided so it can’t be use as a alternative source for the research paper, furthermore, this article is a blog post, so it’s kind of author’s opinion rather than academic argument.
So that is for this week, hope you guys learn something new today! And yeah sure see you guys on the next blog post!
